Walking on the Cairngorm plateau, with Braeriach in the background

A large high-level plateau that lies at the centre of the Cairngorm mountain range. The main area of the plateau to the east of the Laraig Ghru is home to Ben Macdui, Beinn Mheadhoin, Carn a'Mhaim and, of course, Cairn Gorm itself. The Cairngorm plateau is the largest area of land over 3000ft in the UK and is a dramatic place to walk, particularly in winter. So it's fortunate that the club goes there every year, just before Christmas, staying nearby at Nethy House.
