From UMHC Hiking Guide
Committee meetings take place weekly, and for many years have been on a Monday evening. Currently they tend to be 2030, so people can have dinner before. Committee meetings are open to any member to attend and participate, although they may not cast a vote if one is called by the Chair. They are essential for the usual smooth running of the club and although discourse normally revolves around more mundane and organisational tasks of running the club are often party to lively debate. All members are invited to attend and get involved in the running of the club - you don't need to be on committee to have an active role in the running of the club. Indeed, many ex committee members become so attached to the meetings they have trouble letting go, and still regularly turn up. By the same token, those who have never been on committee are just as welcome, and should check our notice board in the students union by the student activity center for the time and venue of the next committee meeting, or email a committee member. After committee meetings a licenced premises is visited for hikers to partake in lightly refreshing beverages, although members of committee who are in more immediate need of refreshment are often accompanied by a beverage during the meeting itself.
