In winter it rarely holds good ice. In condition it is a barrel of laughs.

[edit] Approach

(~400m): Follow the main path past the yacht club. If the weather is good, follow the riverbed on the right side of the stream. If unpleasant, or approaching in winter walk up the metalled road until beneath the gully, then descend and cross the river.

[edit] Ascent

Starts in a broad bay with a steep wall on the left looking in. Follow the stream.

[edit] Descent

Descend steep slopes to the left (looking out) or more pleasantly, continue along the edge of the moor towards Chew reservoir and monster down the good track to the ice-cream van.

[edit] Cautions

Can take a LOT of drainage if it's raining hard, and collects snow and has been the site of avalanches in the winter.
